Welcome Dorothy Day - GoodShape's new Chief People Officer

GoodShape are delighted to welcome a new addition to our rapidly growing team. Dorothy Day joins us in the role of 'Chief People Officer', a newly created position that reflects our commitment to ensuring that our colleagues in GoodShape are also 'in good shape'

Dot joins us as a member of the GoodShape executive leadership team, reporting to CEO Alun Baker. In her role, Dot is responsible for setting and overseeing the execution of GoodShape’s overall people strategy including talent acquisition, diversity and inclusion, employee relations, learning and development, compensation and benefits, and of course, wellbeing.

With more than 22 years of experience in commercial sector human resources, Dot is well versed in empowering people and teams to lead, manage and embrace change to drive growth. She has an impressive track record in driving strategic change to help purpose-led businesses grow sustainably, putting people at the heart of the strategy.

“It is essential our Chief People Officer can wear many hats. They need to be a strategic thinker and an internal champion for improving wellbeing within GoodShape. They also need to be an public advocate and spokesperson in our mission to improve wellbeing in the wider world of work.” said Alun Baker, CEO of GoodShape.

“So, we’re delighted to welcome Dorothy Day to our senior leadership team. Her experience, empathy and vision will help drive GoodShape's evolution as we strive to ensure that wellbeing is a boardroom priority, both in the UK and internationally.”

Dot joins us from Pall International where she was People and Change Director. In that role, she helped the leadership team build the right people strategies and infrastructure to drive growth and create a values-based culture that supported its purpose and mission. Prior to this, Dot's background includes leading large-scale organisation re-design and culture change programmes at Boots, Weetabix, NFU Mutual and Dignity Funerals, and leading in-house resourcing teams across a variety of specialisms at E.ON.

Asked about her new position in Team GoodShape, Dot added:
“I passionately believe that if you take your people with you, driving transformative change becomes much easier. I join GoodShape at a pivotal point in the company’s journey as we campaign to put wellbeing on the corporate agenda."

Dot explained that central to the challenge that employers face is that they have good intentions but lack data, tools and specialist skills to address what is clearly a growing crisis.

"For too long, many employers have paid lip-service to the concept of 'wellbeing'. For most organisations there's no clear view of the problems their people are facing, nor any means of measuring the efficacy of supposed solutions. I’m really thrilled to join a company that's pioneering an evidence-based approach to wellbeing. GoodShape are at the vanguard of a fundamental change. We know that the key to success is understanding, engaging with and supporting our people."
