Enterprise Health Management provider GoodShape is proud to announce that it has recently achieved the Bronze award for “Workforce and Wellbeing Initiative of the Year” at the Health Service Journal (HSJ) Partnership Awards 2024.

These annual awards are centred around the future sustainability of the NHS. They not only celebrate success stories, but also act as a platform to shape the future of the NHS’ new integrated health and care system.

The “Workforce and Wellbeing Initiative of the Year” award in particular recognises companies that provide a service to the NHS that demonstrates support of staff wellbeing, improvement of culture, and/or an initiative demonstrating a positive impact on patient care. Judges sought ambitious projects which demonstrate an effective approach with pre-determined goals, clear benefits for staff, and a focus on using metrics to improve the delivery of services.

Background

GoodShape has been working with the NHS for almost two decades, and currently supports 50,000+ employees across a range of Trusts and Ambulance Trusts throughout the UK. Its unique platform-based solution helps reduce absence by turning the reporting process into a gateway for clinical support and further engagement around health, including signposting to specialist services.

Driving positive change across the NHS

Employee absence, particularly due to stress, burnout, and musculoskeletal issues, is having a profoundly negative effect on the everyday running of the NHS. At GoodShape, we recognised this challenge as an opportunity to make a meaningful impact. Our mission was clear: support the NHS in reducing absence and enhancing productivity, ultimately fostering a healthier, more engaged workforce.

Innovative solutions for measurable results

Through our unique enterprise health management platform solution, GoodShape has empowered NHS Trusts to take proactive measures in managing absence. By streamlining the reporting process and implementing real-time updates, we've enabled Trusts to swiftly address staffing gaps and lower absence rates, minimising disruptions to patient care and significantly reducing bank and agency spend.

Proven track record

The results speak for themselves! With GoodShape's support, individual NHS Trusts have achieved remarkable outcomes, including up to a 50% reduction in long-term absence and the addition of over 1,000 front-line hours per day back into services. Our NHS clients have also achieved significant cost savings through partnering with GoodShape, achieving an average of a 5:1 ROI, with investment return in the first 6 months.

These tangible improvements not only enhance operational efficiency but also contribute to a more resilient healthcare system.

Empowering Trusts, engaging employees

Central to our approach is the empowerment of both NHS Trusts and their employees. By providing comprehensive support and wellbeing services, we ensure that every member of the healthcare workforce receives the assistance they need, when they need it. From directing employees to relevant health support to offering 24/7 access to clinical nurses, we're committed to promoting wellbeing at every level and improving employee engagement levels with all available services.

Strong partnerships for lasting impact

At GoodShape, we understand that true progress requires collaboration. That's why we've forged strategic partnerships with patient advocacy organisations to address the complex issue of long-term absence. Together, we've demonstrated that innovative approaches can yield transformative results, paving the way for a healthier, more productive workforce.

Looking ahead

As we celebrate this achievement, we remain steadfast in our commitment to driving positive change in healthcare. With ongoing discussions with ICBs and NHS Trusts, we're poised to expand our impact and support even more organisations in 2024 and beyond.

We’s like to take this opportunity to extend our deepest gratitude to the NHS Trusts, partners, dedicated healthcare professionals, and our very own GoodShapers who have made this achievement possible. Together, we're transforming the employee health landscape and helping to create a more stable future for the NHS.
